Week of 1/17 - 1/21
After a couples reworks, eventually decided to have reasonably detailed individual blocks of Barcelona, Spain. I was going to start with the Sagrada Familia in the center, then work my way out in the circular pattern until I eventually run out of time and have to move onto designing the table itself.

Week of 1/24 - 1/28
Week of 1/31 - 2/4
I started adding the general details in (since this is so small, this level is roughly the minimum level of detail that I can add while still having it be recognizable as the Sagrada Familia without being overwhelming).
I'm hoping to be done with the Sagrada Familia model by the end of next week and starting on modeling the other blocks in Barcelona. |

Week of 2/7 - 2/11

I finally finished my Sagrada Familia model, so now I'm just working my way through the rest of the blocks for Barcelona. I'm currently able to get through about a block per day, since these don't need to be anywhere near as detailed as the Sagrada Familia.

Week of 2/14 - 2/18
Week of 2/21 - 2/25: WINTER BREAK
Week of 2/28 - 3/4
Week of 3/7 - 3/11
Week of 3/14 - 3/18
Week of 3/21 - 3/25
I finished modeling all of the blocks for Phase I and only have blocks 5B - 5E left to 3D-print. I have also finished labelling all of the 3D-printed blocks I already have.
For Phase II, I'm hoping to model blocks 5F - 3F as they are in Google Maps, then replace blocks 2F - 0F with a sign saying "BARCELONA" (and maybe some other stuff in fine print at the bottom). Then, I'll do at least blocks 0E - 0A. Next, if I think I have time (which I probably won't), I'll work my way around the Phase I block group until I've done all the blocks in a 7 x 7 square, with the Sagrada Familia in the center. |
Week of 3/28 - 4/1
I've started on Phase II, and I've decided to do everything outlined in the previous week's entry up to Block 0A. After that, however, I don't think I'll have time.
At the end of this week, I've completed everything up to Block 0C, and am hoping to finish all the blocks as soon as possible after the Inventor certification exam. |
Week of 4/4 - 4/8: SPRING BREAK
Week of 4/11 - 4/15
This week, I finally finished all of the blocks for my miniature model of the city of Barcelona, so now I'm modelling the actual table frame itself, as well as studying for the upcoming Inventor certification exam.
For the table, I'm hoping to set it up such that I can disassemble the table to separate the cabinet holding the city model from the rest of the table itself so that if I decided I had time to do a wood stain/finish after assembling the table, I could disassemble it and easily do that. |
Week of 4/18 - 4/22
|
I did my Inventor certification exam (which I spent the majority of the week studying for) and started finally figuring out what I'm going to do for my table.
I've figured out everything about my table other than how tall its legs are going to be. The height of the table itself is very dependent on where in my house it's going, so I need to figure out where exactly I want it to go over the weekend, as well as figure out the ideal height for a table in the place I want it to go. I should have the entire assembly for my table in Inventor done by Monday of next week, then get it verified by Ms. Bolen, then actually start constructing ideally on Tuesday/Wednesday. However, the week after that, I'm only at school two days that week, so I'm not getting much done that week, but after that, I should have a LOT more time available. |
Week of 4/25 - 4/29
I finally decided to have my table around the same thickness as an ottoman in my family's living room, so the entire thing will be 18 inches.
Also, I had to switch from using Anakin to using Prusa since that was the only 3D printer left that had the color of material I needed (white).

Week of 5/2 - 5/6: AP EXAMS
Week of 5/9 - 5/13

Assembled table at home because bringing all of the individual pieces home and assembling it there is easier than assembling it at school and then trying to bring the fully constructed table home.
